ORing作为威力工业网络的品牌，成立于2005年，现任全球CEO及创始人施作君先生辞去VIA交换机芯片软件研发部的工作，在台北自家的地下工作室，与几个合作伙伴一起开始了创业。团队全身心投入到工业通信应用的潮流中，研发了私有环网冗余协议O-Ring，成功将网络自愈时间减少到10毫秒。

次年，团队又创新的推出了网络管理软件，实现工业以太网交换机的远程管理。此外，在原有O-Ring协议的基础上，推出了Open-Ring开放式环网技术，这一个创新性的突破打破了不同厂商的私有网络冗余协议的障碍，实现相互兼容，可大大减少用户的使用成本。随后，将软件开发和硬件制造相结合，推出了旗下第一台工业以太网交换机IES-3162FX系列，成为公司目前热销的产品之一。

在累积了三年的经验之后的2008年，团队决定自创品牌——ORing，宣告ORing品牌的正式建立。
